  It is the mission of the National Bobcat Rescue & Research Foundation to develop a better understanding and appreciation of these incredibly emotionally charged animals. Since people fear what they do not understand, it is our goal to help them understand that these animals are not going to attack, maul, hurt, or otherwise injure a human or their pets unless threatened. The danger arises when people, or pets do not respect the immediate space of a wild cat.

  The focus of this institute will be the overall understanding of this elusive animal's behavior both wild, and in captivity, understanding their habitat and nutritional needs more clearly, and the diseases that run through this species across North American. This information will be presented to the scientific community involved in any projects that touch or infringe on the animal's habitat.

  It is the hope of NBRR that a better understanding of this animal may calm some fears of the general public, and help animal services and law enforcement agencies to more clearly define the real dangers that these cats may or may not posess to the human population.
